New trailer for Beat Generation film 'Big Sur' with Kate Bosworth and Josh Lucas

The Beat Generation is back in style with three films centered on the life of Jack Kerouac and his close-knit associates.  On the Road has garnered the most attention, mainly due to the presence of Kristen Stewart, but this year's Sundance Film Festival has two more offerings that could be even better. The first is Kill Your Darlings, which recently popped up on my Most Anticipated Movies of 2013. The second and less talked about is Big Sur, from writer/director Michael Polish.

Taking a break from pairing up with his brother, Mark(the two directed The Astronaut Farmer), Michael's film is an adaptation of Kerouac's novel, which covers his struggles to deal with fame after the success of On the Road. Backed hauntingly by The Flamingos 'I Only Have Eyes For You', the new trailer speaks to a subtle and contemplative examination of Kerouac's life, when he escapes to Big Sur to get some distance from everything. His battles with alcoholism continue to effect him, and ultimately he finds himself in a passionate relationship with Billie, the mistress of his pal Neal Cassady.

Jean-Marc Barr slips into the Kerouac role, with Kate Bosworth and Josh Lucas as Billie and Cassady respectively. Henry Thomas, Radha Mitchell, Anthony Edwards, and Balthazar Getty round out an impressive cast.  Big Sur just jumped up on my list of movies to see while in Park City, so hopefully a review will be up here soon.  Check out the trailer below.
