Sure Shots: Brie Larson; Ashley Tisdale; Halle Berry
* Wherever Brie Larson goes, I shall follow, into the pits of a film that sounds like a disaster is pretty much every way. Showbiz411 says she'll star in Basmati Blues, a Bollywood musical being financed by Jeffrey Soros, the nephew of billionaire and the right-wing's boogeyman George Soros. Larson apparently beat out Kate Hudson(???) for the lead role, and now an Indian male lead is being sought. Dan Harmon, who I've never heard of, will write and direct, and it will feature the music of Sugarland, who I've also never heard of. Brie will get a chance to sing and dance, apparently, so at least there's a reason to be a little interested.
* Ashley Tisdale is moving from the comedy of Scary Movie 5 to a film that will undoubtedly be laughed at, even if that's not the intention. She's joining Nicolas Cage and Chad Michael Murray in Left Behind, a big screen remake of the Christian-themed series set in the aftermath of the Rapture. She'll play Chloe Steele, the daughter of Cage's character in the Vic Armstrong-directed relaunch. [Deadline]
* Halle Berry's upcoming thriller The Hive already sounded terrible, which may be why it's getting bumped around the schedule and given a new name. Now titled The Hive, the film has moved to March 15th 2013 in the slot vacated by the Carrie remake. Directed by Brad Anderson and starring Abigail Breslin, the film follows an emergency phone line operator (Berry) confronting a killer from her past in order to save a young girls life.
