3. The Baytown Outlaws
Vulgar and more than a little insensitive, The Baytown Outlaws is a racial stereotype battle royale where nobody is spared. Billy Bob Thornton, Eva Longoria, and a rugged performance by Clayne Crawford lead a wild and violent shoot 'em up where the south rises up for payback.

2. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Peter Jackson welcomes us back into the comfortable warmth of Middle Earth, where a new and rousing adventure trilogy awaits. The Hobbit kicks his prequel off in exciting, light-hearted fashion, Jackson's enthusiasm leaping in bounds through every frame. Visually stunning and crystal clear in 48fps, while it takes some getting used to the end result is well worth the wait, as Tolkien's magical world has never looked better.
1. Django Unchained
Quentin Tarantino unloads both barrels at slavery with his controversial and challenging blaxploitation/spaghetti Western. Hyper-violent with the director's brash sense of humor, Django Unchained is another stylish addition to the director's impressive resume.

Through his first two films Rian Johnson has established himself as the go-to guy for freshening up stale genres, and he does it yet again for science-fiction with Looper. A thought-provoking, action-packed thrillride unlike anything else we saw all year, the film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis in a mind-bending time travel tale full of unexpected twists and turns.
