Chadwick Boseman the top pick for 'Draft Day'
In his first two major film roles, Chadwick Boseman has played a pair of Hall of Famers. He hit the ground running as Floyd Little in The Express, and he's currently earning raves for his performance as Jackie Robinson in 42. Now he's headed back to sports movie territory, joining the pro football comedy, Draft Day.
Directed by Ivan Reitman and featuring a Black List-selected screenplay that has drawn comparisons to Moneyball, the film stars Kevin Costner as the GM of the Cleveland Browns who spends one crazy day trying to make the right draft picks to save his team. Boseman will play Louisiana outside linebacker Vontae Mack in what is described as a small but pivotal role. He joins Denis Leary, Frank Langella, Jennifer Garner, and Ellen Burstyn.
The NFL has given Draft Day their complete blessing, and some shooting will take place during the NFL Draft next week. You can listen to our interview with Boseman here, where he talks about the pressures of playing someone as important as Robinson. [Deadline]
