Rose Byrne and Jason Sudeikis to lead rom-com 'Tumbledown'
With a diverse mix of recent features under her belt ranging from current rom-com I Give It a Year to the emotionally heavy The Place Beyond the Pines, there's a reason why many praise Rose Byrne for her versatility. Jason Sudeikis, on the other hand, has been in a steady comedic groove for awhile and has the drug comedy We're the Millers coming up later this year. Having helped lead two of the most successful R-rated comedies of all-time in Bridesmaids and Horrible Bosses, Byrne and Sudeikis will now pair up for the indie rom-com, Tumbledown.
Directed by newcomer Sean Mewshaw, the story has Byrne as a Maine widow who falls for a brash young writer played Sudeikis, who hits her town to investigate the murder of her husband, a folk music hero. Doesn't sound particularly funny, and screenwriter Desi Van Til is as much of an unknown commodity as Mewshaw, so who knows how the tone will actually play out. HBO TV vets Olivia Munn (The Newsroom) and Joe Manganiello (True Blood) co-star along with Michael McKean, Beau Bridges, and Blythe Danner.
Filming on Tumbledown is set to begin this October. [TheWrap]
