'Green Lantern' co-writer to pen Ridley Scott's 'Blade Runner' sequel

Around the time when Ridley Scott was everywhere talking about Prometheus, he was also doing a good deal of chatting about a return to another sci-fi of his great sci-fi hits, Blade Runner. What came of it was what seemed like a lot of information at the time, such as Harrison Ford maybe making a cameo as Rick Deckard, and original scribe Hampton Fancher working on the story. There hasn't been a lot of talk about it since, but the sequel is indeed happening as a writer of some note has come aboard.

Michael Green, who co-wrote Green Lantern and Steven Spielberg's shelved Robopocalypse adaptation, has come aboard to pen the Blade Runner follow-up. So please, judge expectations accordingly. A story over at The Wrap says the film will be set "some years" after the last one, while an official press release from Alcon Entertainment says that sequels and prequels are in development. They also say that Ford is being "courted" by Scott to return. Sounds like they're going out on a lot of dinner dates.

This is still very early, but we could be on the verge of a huge new franchise, and if Prometheus 2 does happen, we may be neck deep in Ridley Scott sci-fi. To me, this is a very good thing, and if there's a storyline connection between the two then even better.
