Milla Jojovich in talks to join 'The Expendables 3'
After The Expendables brought back a bunch of aging action heroes all in one place and became a huge hit (and career lifeline) for Sylvester Stallone, he's been on a crusade to try and up the ante with each film. The Expendables 2 brought in the big guns with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis expanding their roles, while adding other genre stalwarts Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris. For the third film, Stallone has reached out to other heavy-hitters like Wesley Snipes, Jackie Chan, and even Nicolas Cage, and now it appears he's landed all three plus a surprising new name.
According to Deadline, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer confirmed that Chan, Snipes, and Cage are in "advanced negotiations" to join the flick, which basically backs up news that has been floating around for months. What nobody had been expecting was that he threw Milla Jojovich's name into the mix, which would make her the most prominent female action star the franchise has had. Jojovich does make a lot of sense, as she's been the driving force behind the long-running Resident Evil franchise which is wrapping up next year. This would also seem to put the kibosh on any plans for her to join that "all-female Expendables" film that is currently in development.
It remains unclear who from the previous films will return, but you can probably expect to see Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, and Mickey Rourke. Patrick Hughes will direct The Expendables 3 when filming finally gets underway.
