New trailer for Renny Harlin's found footage horror 'The Dyatlov Pass Incident'

Once one of the filmmakers who defined action movies in the '80s and '90s, it's been tougher going for Renny Harlin of late. He directed the WWE-backed 12 Rounds, which has become a joke even to John Cena fans. His last film 5 Days of War was largely ignored by audiences, but stirred up controversy with some human rights groups. Harlin may be making what amounts to a comeback with next year's Hercules 3D, but before that he also has the found footage horror, The Dyatlov Pass Incident.

A new trailer for the film has been released, and it's one that will be compelling to those familiar with the real life, unsolved mystery it depicts In 1959, nine experienced Russian skiers were found dead not far from their campsite on the Ural Mountains. Their tents had been torn open from the inside, and some there were no signs of struggle in any of them. They had all attempted escape, barely dressed despite the frigid temperatures. A few died of hypothermia, but others showed signs of extreme trauma, with one missing her tongue. There have been a few theories about what might have happened, but no concrete answers. Harlin's film will follow a group of American film students who head to the Dyatlov Pass to discover the truth, where they are picked off by an unseen force.

Looking a little too much like last year's Cherynobyl Diaries, it's possible that The Dyatlov Pass Incident could be a decent thriller if it ever gains a U.S. release date. For now, check out the latest trailer, plus an older cut below...
