First trailer for 'The Family' starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Tommy Lee Jones
After hitting us with the first posters and images earlier today, the trailer for Luc Besson's The Family has arrived just as promised. The action comedy stars Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer as part of a mafia family who are shipped off to Normandy in the Witness Protection Program after ratting out the mob. Dianna Agron and John D'Leo play their kids, who along with their parents can't seem to break their old, violent habits. Tommy Lee Jones is the CIA agent charged with keeping them on the straight and narrow, and not finding a lot of success.
De Niro is slipping back into pretty comfortable shoes playing the aging gangster, and the same goes for Pfeiffer, who starred in Married to the Mob a lifetime ago. Actually, the tone for this film is a lot like that one, although it's hard not to see a little Meet the Fockers in there, too. Basically, this looks kinda iffy, but I'm willing to give Besson and De Niro the benefit of the doubt. It would help if they changed the boring title and go back to Malavita which at least has some mystery to it.
The Family hits theaters on September 20th.
