Hand to Hand Combat Ensues in First Clips From 'Pacific Rim'

Besides looking visually awesome (have you seen those massive robots?), Pacific Rim also has some character conflict to round out what looks to be a fantastic-looking film. Two clips from the film have been released for everyone's viewing pleasure. If it isn't clear from the trailers what to expect from Pacific Rim, then these clips definitely give us a better look.

Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) and Idris Elba (28 Weeks Later) have an argument in the first clip and Elba is quick to put Hunnam in his place and show him who's boss. Elba's authority is unmistakable and you can almost see a hint of rebellion in Hunnam.

The second clip gives us a fighting scene between Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi (Babel). Hunnam promises not to go easy on her and Kikuchi rises to the challenge, beating him in the end just to show him she doesn't need to be coddled. In turn, Hunnam chooses her as his co-pilot.

More footage will begin appearing as we close in on the film's release date, but until then, enjoy the clips below!

Pacific Rim unleashes its robots July 12.
