Josh Helman Joins 'X-men: Days of Future Past' In "Significant" Mystery Role

With filming on X-men: Days of Future Past well underway, it seemed as if Bryan Singer was finally done adding to the already humungous cast. There are more than fifteen characters running around Singer's time travel story, yet there's still room for one more. And it's not just a small throwaway role, it could be of some importance.

Fast-rising Australian actor Josh Helman has joined the cast in an unknown role, which The Wrap says could be "significant" because he's due to be on set for several weeks. One has to wonder what the end game for Singer is here, and why so many characters are being thrown into the mix all at once. Fox may be trying to set up something for the future, possibly an expansion of the franchise. That's all just speculation, just as any guess who Helman could be portraying would be. He had a small role in Jack Reacher, and will be seen later this year opposite Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road. His most significant part to date was in HBO's The Pacific.

So add another actor to the growing list that already includes Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Adan Canto, and Boo Boo Stewart. X-men: Days of Future Past opens on May 23rd 2014.
