Krysten Ritter Joins 'Big Eyes'; 'Cinderella' adds Sophie McShera; Paramount to Distribute Next 'Terminator'

* Krysten Ritter (She's Out of My League) has joined Big Eyes, Tim Burton's biopic on artists Margaret and Walter Keane. Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz play the famous couple, known for their images of doe-eyed children that gained notoriety in the 1960s. The film will chronicle their career, divorce, and legal dispute as Walter tried to take credit for Margaret's work. Danny Huston is co-starring, with Ritter playing “DeeAnn, the free-spirited confidante to Margaret who tries to coax her friend to come out of her shell.” Ritter, who was last seen in the awful vampire comedy Vamps, is usually at her best in the "best friend" role, so this should be right up her alley.

* With Holliday Grainger recently taking a step-sister role in Disney's live-action Cinderella, THR reports that Downton Abbey's Sophie McShera is in talks for another. They'll play Drisella and Anastasia in the Kenneth Branagh-directed film, which has taken on quite a British flavor. Lily James is set for the title role, with Richard Madden as the prince and Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother. At this point the only major role I can think of that needs to be filled is the fairy godmother, and I'd like to nominate Another Year's Lesley Manville. Get on that, Disney.

* It may be slow going, but things are indeed happening with a new Terminator film. Earlier this year, Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis were brought on to begin work on a Terminator 5 script, and that was proceeded by the addition of David Ellison as a financial and creative partner to his sister, AnnaPurna Pictures head Megan Ellison. Although Justin Lin backed out of directing, Arnold Schwarzenegger continues to be attached in some unknown capacity. Now comes word that Paramount is ironing out a deal to land distribution rights to the next film. David's Skydance Productions has a pretty tight relationship with Paramount so it makes sense.
