Melissa Leo Joins Mark Webber and Teresa Palmer's 'The Ever After'; Rosario Dawson in talks

At last year's Sundance Film Festival, Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) debuted his second directorial effort, The End of Love. The sobering, deeply personal film had Webber as a widower struggling to balance his acting career with taking care of his young son. He used his real life kid to play his son, and invited a number of his celebrity friends to play versions of themselves. Webber is going back to that same well again for his next feature, The Ever After.

Webber is producing, co-writing, and starring with his girlfriend Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies) in the relationship drama, which is said to be a brutal look at the depths of marriage. Production began back in February in Palmer's native Australia, and recently while chatting up her latest film, Wish You Were Here, she revealed to ThePlaylist the addition of Melissa Leo to the cast, while also spilling some additional plot details....

Palmer: "He’s directing it, we’re both starring in it, and we’re playing a married couple. I’m playing a married woman who deals with postpartum depression and Melissa Leo stars in the film, she just attached herself which is really exciting. I play a version of myself that blurs the lines between reality and fiction; the majority of it is improvised. "

The work she did on Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups is what inspired her, while she said Webber drew inspiration from Gena Rowlands' A Woman Under the Influence, and by the works of Nick Cassavetes. Not a bad bunch to pluck ideas from. With Leo confirmed, Rosario Dawson, Kid Cudi, Phoebe Tonkin, and Jaime King are said to be circling supporting roles. Shooting will move to New York and Los Angeles through July and August. [Variety]
