New Photos and English-Language Teaser for 'The Counselor'

When acclaimed crime novelist Cormac McCarthy was first revealed to be writing his first original screenplay, it was obvious that a number of directors would step over their mothers to direct it. But it was Ridley Scott who got the jump on everybody, picking up The Counselor right out of the gate before we really knew what it would entail. No surprise that the No Country for Old Men author was able to secure an incredible amount of talent to star in it, but the surprise came with yesterday's teaser trailer, which showed a kinetic style he hasn't displayed since his early career.

As glossy and slick as the footage was, it was unfortunately in Russian, but now an English version has hit the web. Along with it come a pair of new images courtesy of EW, featuring Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, and Cameron Diaz. Brad Pitt is producing and also features in a supporting role, joined by Javier Bardem, Dean Norris, Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo, Natalie Dormer and Goran Visnjic. The story follows the titular law counselor, who gets in way over his head when he enters the drug trade.

The Counselor enters the Oscar race on October 25th.
