New Posters For 'Ender's Game', 'The Wolverine', 'The Lifeguard', and 'Austenland'

Those who have read Orson Scott Card's sci-fi classic, Ender's Game, will probably love these new propaganda posters for the film. Written and directed by Gavin Hood, the story is set in the future after Earth has been attacked by bug-like aliens known as Formics. To protect humanity, the military begins forcing the best and brightest children to attend Battle School, where they work day and night to be the saviors of the human race. Asa Butterfield is Ender Wiggin, who many expect to be the greatest military commander of all-time, but he soon discovers that to be the best means leaving everything he ever knew behind. Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, and Moises Arias star in Ender's Game, opening on November 1st.

Fox has released four more posters for The Wolverine, three of which are done in the stylish Suibokuga style we saw in yesterday's Jean Grey image, and others before that. These highlight the characters of Shingen (Hiroyuki Sanada), Mariko (Tao Okamoto), and Harada (Will Yun Lee). The Wolverine hits theaters on July 26th.

While Kristen Bell is busy filming Veronica Mars, she also has a the indie dramedy The Lifeguard diving into theaters this July 9th. The writing/directing debut by Liz Garcia has Bell as a big city reporter and former valedictorian who returns to her hometown in Connecticut, takes up a lifeguard job, and enters into a relationship with a troubled 16-year old boy. The cast is great, with Mamie Gummer, Alex Shaffer (Win Win), Martin Starr, and Amy Madigan co-starring. It played at Sundance where I unfortunately couldn't catch up with it, but word on it has been pretty good.

And another Sundance entry making its way to theaters this summer is Austenland, a comedy in which Keri Russell plays a lonely woman obsessed with Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. To find her perfect Mr. Darcy, she travels to a British resort where the Austin-era is recreated. The film marks the directorial debut by Jerusha Hess, the wife of Napoleon Dynamite director, Jared Hess. JJ Feild, Jennifer Coolidge, Bret McKenzie, and Jane Seymour co-star.
