New Posters for 'Riddick', 'Fruitvale Station', 'Man of Tai Chi', 'Kick-Ass 2', and More

Vin Diesel rules the dark in the latest IMAX poster for Riddick, just a few days after he debuted a Comic-Con exclusive version. The third film in the Chronicles of Riddick series has the Furyan trapped on a desolate planet populated by vicious creatures. His only hope of surviving is alerting his enemies to his whereabouts. Riddick opens on September 6th.

A handful of films broke out of Sundance as legitimate future Oscar contenders, but none had more heat behind it than Ryan Coogler's Fruitvale Station. The tearjerker is based on the true story of Oscar Grant, who was murdered by BART cops while in custody on New Year's Day 2009. Most of the praise has been heaped on star Michael B. Jordan (future Johnny Storm?), but he gets a lot of help from Octavia Spencer and Melonie Diaz (a personal favorite ever since Raising Victor Vargas) carrying the significant dramatic burden. Fruitvale Station opens on July 12th.

"No rules. No mercy. Pure fighting". With over 40 minutes of bone-breaking action, Keanu Reeves couldn't have chosen a more apt tagline for his directorial debut, Man of Tai Chi. Four new posters highlight Reeves and co-stars Tiger Hu Chen and Karen Mok. Chen plays a tai chi master whose martial arts skills are challenged when he's forced to fight in an underground tournament run by Reeves. Man of Tai Chi should arrive later this year.

Fox decided to take all of the previous Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters images and smoosh them into this latest poster. The modern day mythological tale brings back Logan Lerman as the titular son of Poseidon, who rounds up his crew of fellow demigods to find the Golden Fleece, which is located in the Sea of Monsters, known to his regular folks as the Bermuda Triangle. Directed by Thor Freudenthal and co-starring Alexandra Daddario, Brandton T. Jackson, Douglas Smith, Nathan Fillion, and Stanley Tucci, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters opens on August 7th.

A new trailer for David Gordon Green's Prince Avalanche should hit the web tomorrow, but ahead of that we're getting this new triumphant new one-sheet. In what looks like a return to earlier form for Green, the low-wattage dramedy has Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch as two men who form a bond of friendship when they leave the city to repaint a country highway destroyed by wildfires. Prince Avalanche will hit the art house circuit on August 9th.

I consider Rounders one of the great gambling movies ever, so when the writers of that film venture back into the world of poker, and with a cast that features Ben Affleck, Gemma Arterton, and Justin Timberlake, it's worth taking notice. Runner Runner has Timberlake as Richie, a Princeton grad student who loses everything when he's scammed playing online poker. Ben Affleck plays Ivan Block, the online gambling tycoon who swindled him, but his power and wealth seduce Richie over to his side. Brad Furman is directing Runner Runner for release on September 27th.

Between the heroic Justice Forever team and the evil Toxic Mega Cunts or whatever their name in the film is going to be, there are more than a dozen colorfully-clad characters running around Kick-Ass 2. I was hoping we'd get a poster featuring all of them rather than the four we've seen plenty of already, but alas it doesn't appear to be the case. Jim Carrey has recently taken to Twitter to express his opposition to the level of violence in the film in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy. I wonder how he feels about being a major component to its marketing? Kick-Ass 2 is directed by Jeff Wadlow and opens on August 14th.
