New Trailer for 'The Wolverine' Features More Viper and Silver Samurai

Although Wolverine is a more popular character than either Iron Man or Superman right now, you wouldn't know it based on the amount of hype for his latest stab on the silver screen. Nobody expects that it will come close to matching Iron Man 3's $1B haul, and just based on audience anticipation it'll never enter the same orbit as Man of Steel. In truth, the only expectation for The Wolverine is that it be superior to the last one film.. It's a low bar, but every trailer we've seen thus far suggests it's one that will easily be hurdled.

There's a great deal of new footage in the latest trailer, with most of it centered on Silver Samurai (Will Yun Lee), the fork-tongued Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova), and the assassin Yukio (Rila Fukushima). The story is based on Chris Claremont's Japan-set tale that has Logan battling the yakuza, led by the evil Lord Shingen, who also happens to be father to the X-man's lover, Mariko. Logan will be appearing next in Bryan Singer's mind-boggling X-men: Days of Future Past, but for now this may just be a chance to watch him cut loose and tear through a bunch of ninja.

Directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine hits theaters on July 26th.
