With Man of Steel only a week away from storming mulitplexes and art house theaters looking to make a quick buck, Warner Bros. is dead set on proving once and for all that their film isn't just going to be a Kal-El character study. A good deal of the footage we've seen has looked like an expanded episode of Smallville, with the focus on the hero's upbringing, parentage, and search to find his way in the world. But there's clearly going to be a ton of Zack Snyder-directed action, and judging by the clips we've seen it's going to be pretty incredible.
Following up on last night's clip of Faora (Antje Traue) taking on the U.S. military, the latest scene involves Superman (Henry Cavill) in an intense, lengthy battle against General Zod (Michael Shannon) on the city streets. While the brawl itself is thrilling and literally explosive, we also learn that Zod may have harmed or possibly even killed Superman's adoptive mother (Diane Lane). At the same time we see that the lessons she and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) taught are paying dividends.
Man of Steel opens on June 14th. How excited are you to see it? [CBM]
