Tracy Ullman Goes 'Into the Woods'; Marti Noxon to Pen 'Tomb Raider'; Chris Tucker Takes a 'Second Honeymoon'

* Tracy Ullman hasn't appeared on screen since 2007's forgettable I Could Never Be Your Woman, but the renowned comedian is aiming for a return in Rob Marshall's Into the Woods. Ullman, who has appeared on more than her share of stage productions and Broadway plays, is in talks to join the adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's fairy tale musical, which follows a baker and his wife who venture into the woods to break a witch's curse preventing them from having children. Along the way they run into a number of fairy tale characters such as Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and a version of the Big Bad Wolf. Ullman would play the mother to Jack the Giant Killer, joining Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, and Christine Baranski. [THR]

* After years of stalling, the Tomb Raider reboot finally looks to be on firm ground. It was back in March that GK Films teamed up with MGM to bring the franchise back to the big screen, and now they've landed a talented screenwriter in Marti Noxon. Known for writing and producing Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Noxon will turn her talent for crafting strong female heroines towards Lara Croft. The film will feature a new actress in the lead, and the story is said to springboard from the latest best-selling game.

* While we wait to see if Chris Tucker will take on Rush Hour 4 or star in a remake of The Intouchables, he's gone ahead and booked his first role since Silver Linings Playbook. He'll headline Second Honeymoon, a comedy directed by Gridiron Gang's Phil Joanou. The story centers on “a married couple who return to Antigua on their second honeymoon in an effort to spice things up. However, the legacy they left ten years ago comes back to haunt both of them, and before they know it, the trip is less about trying to reconnect with their younger, wilder selves and more about trying to get off the island alive.”
