Two New Live-Action 'Gatchaman' Trailers

A stone cold anime classic in Japan, Gatchaman was popular enough that it eventually found a way here to America, although anyone who watched both versions would see little resemblance. Best known here as Battle of the Planets or G-Force, it was highly edited and given a lighter tone more easily suited for kids. But those who are die-hard Gatchaman fans only recognize the original, and they'll likely be very pleased with how the new live-action film looks.

The first full trailer and a new teaser have been released for the Gatchaman film being directed by Toya Sato (Grave of the Fireflies), and the tone is definitely more aggressive, while maintaining a heavy dose of sci-fi action. It follows five agents of the International Science Organization who battle the technologically-advanced forces of Galactor. With half of the world already under Galactor's control, it's up to to the Gatchaman team to find a mysterious crystal that can save the planet.
