John Williams Confirmed to Score New 'Star Wars' Films

As integral to the success of Star Wars as Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, or even George Lucas has been the sweeping orchestral score by John Williams. He's provided the unforgettable music for all six movies up to this point, and it's safe to say that Star Wars wouldn't be Star Wars without him. So of course Disney isn't looking to fix what definitely isn't broken, and as Star Wars Celebration Europe is now underway, producer Kathleen Kennedy has just announced that Williams will be returning for the new trilogy.

Over the course of his sixty-year career, Williams has won five Academy Awards, and he's probably the one aspect of the franchise that fans remain solidly behind. As beloved as the original trilogy continues to be, the prequels divided the fanbase greatly, and their is just as much concern over what J.J. Abrams is planning for Star Wars: Episode VII. But it's undeniable that the Dream Team combination of Abrams, screenwriter Michael Arndt, consultants Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg, and the returning Williams holds a ton of potential.

There may be more news as Star Wars Celebration Europe continues, so stay tuned. For the record, Williams seems pretty excited about returning in this video shown the Celebration crowd...
