Although Sylvester Stallone has molded his The Expendables franchise into a home for retired action heroes looking for an easy pay day, he's still found room to include at least one young upstart in the. Taking on the "young gun" role last time around was The Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth, and because they need another franchise hunk for The Expendables 3, Stallone has enlisted Twilight's Kellan Lutz.
Because Lutz fits in so perfectly amongst action legends Stallone, Wesley Snipes, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, and Jason Statham, he'll join the film which apparently will center on "a younger group of tech-savvy action heroes who initially clash with the older crew, though they eventually team up to save the day." Yeah, that sounds pretty terrible, but maybe Lutz is just the first recognizable young star to sign up. Hopefully he lasts a bit longer than Hemsworth did, who was made a bloody example of in rapid fashion.
Directed by Patrick Hughes, The Expendables 3 opens on August 15th 2014.
