If the spectacle of Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim hasn't won you over by now, chances are it won't before the film hits theaters next week. But for those who are chomping at the bit for the giant Kaiju vs. kung-fu Jaeger action, the final trailer offers up something a little different.
While there's still a great deal of action, ramped up to in a relatively slow burn, the focus is squarely on the human pilots. It becomes clear that there will be a great deal more than just geeky sci-fi theatrics, and building believable characters is another crucial element. We learn a bit more about the nature of the neural link between the pilots, and the deeper their trust in one another the more in sync they'll be with their Jaeger. Expect to see a great deal of bonding time between Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi, and not just when she's kicking his butt in the training room. Also released are a pair of one-sheets, featuring the Australian Jaeger Strike Eureka, and the Kaiju known as Leatherback.
Pacific Rim co-stars Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Clifton Collins Jr., and arrives on July 12th.
