New Posters for 'Saving Mr. Banks', 'X-men: Days of Future Past', 'Captain Phillips', and More

Disney has revealed the first poster for Saving Mr. Banks, and it's so clever it casts quite the long shadow. The image features stars Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson as Walt Disney and author P.L. Travers, casting the shadow of Mickey Mouse and Mary Poppins. The film chronicles their rocky relationship as Disney tries to convince the protective Travers to adapt her famous novel for the big screen. Saving Mr. Banks opens on Christmas Day.

Here are a couple of posters for X-men: Days of Future Past that were on the Comic-Con show floor, kicking up some propaganda against our favorite mutants. Directed by Bryan Singer and starring...well, just about everybody, the film opens on May 16th 2014 and has a present day Wolverine going back in time to prevent a dystopian future.

I still think that A Hijacking (review here) will end the year as the best Somali pirates movie, but there's no doubt that Paul Greengrass' Captain Phillips will get all of the Oscar attention. Here are two new posters for the anticipated drama, starring Tom Hanks as Captain Richard Phillips, the film will chronicle the 2009 capturing of the Maersk Alabama cargo vessel, in which Phillips risked his life for the safety of his crew. Captain Phillips opens on October 11th.

The sudden passing of James Gandolfini has made every opportunity to see him in action all the more special, and here is a new poster for Enough Said, featuring one of his final performances. Written and directed by Nicole Holofcener (Please Give), Gandolfini was joined by co-stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Toni Collette, and Ben Falcone in the story of a divorced woman who learns the man she's pursuing romantically is the ex-husband of her new best friend. The film opens on September 20th.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman are front and center in the new poster for Prisoners, the suspenseful crime thriller from Incendies director, Denis Villeneuve. Jackman plays a working-class carpenter who takes the law in his own hands after his daughter and her best friend are kidnapped, and the hot shot detective assigned to the case fails to deliver justice. Melissa Leo, Terrence Howard, Paul Dano, Maria Bello, and Viola Davis co-star in the film hitting theaters on September 20th.

Here's a seductive new one-sheet for The Canyons, which has Lindsay Lohan starring opposite porn star James Deen. Directed by Paul Schrader and scripted by Bret Easton Ellis, the film is a sexually charged and violent look at young people making their way through the Los Angeles movie scene. The film hits VOD, ITunes, and theaters on August 2nd.

I don't really know the first thing about Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters, but from what I've been told the novels are a pretty big deal and could make a run at The Hunger Games' YA title. We'll see about that, because the mostly unknown talent involved don't suggest it's ready for the big time. A simple but effective teaser poster has hit the for film, which stars Zoey Deutch as Rose Hathaway, a half-human/half-vampire, and Lucy Fry as full-vamp Princess Vasilisa "Lissa" Dragomir. Rose must navigate the difficult social order while attending St. Vladimir’s Academy boarding school, while ensuring that Lissa doesn't fall into the clutches of an evil undead clan who want to steal her unique powers. Gabriel Byrne, Olga Kurylenko, Sarah Hyland, and Joely Richardson are the most recognizable names in the film, directed by Mark Waters (Mean Girls) and opening on February 14th 2014.
