New Posters for 'Edge of Tomorrow', '47 Ronin', 'Mr. Peabody & Sherman', and More
Fresh off a hot Comic-Con presentation that saw Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt showing off impressive footage from Doug Liman's sci-fi flick, Edge of Tomorrow, a new poster featuring Cruise has been released. Based on the Japanese novel All You Need is Kill, the futuristic war film has Cruise as an untrained soldier killed in battle, but finds himself caught in a timeloop and forced to relive the fight repeatedly. Edge of Tomorrow opens on June 6th 2014.
It's been a long time coming for Keanu Reeves' Japanese epic, 47 Ronin, but it's finally set to hit theaters this Christmas, and now we're getting a handful of striking new posters. Directed by Carl Rinsch the 3D film stars Reeves, Pacific Rim's Rinko Kikuchi, The Wolverine's Hiroyuki Sanada, and Thor's Tadanobu Asano in the story of an outcast (Reeves) who joins a band of masterless samurai to defeat the overlord who banished their kind and murdered their leader.
Dreamworks Animation was planning on making Mr. Peabody & Sherman a part of their 2013 line-up, but pushed it back to next spring. Considering the mediocre returns on Turbo, they may wish they had kept it where it was. Based on the popular characters from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, the film follows the adventures of Mr. Peabody, the world's smartest dog, and his human "pet", Sherman, as they use the WABAC machine to go back in time and screwed up events in history. Max Charles, Ty Burrell, Stanley Tucci, Stephen Colbert, and Leslie Mann lead the voice cast, with Rob Minkoff (The Lion King) directing for a March 7th 2014 release.
This summer has seen a number of stylish, inventive one-sheets, and this new one for Aubrey Plaza's raunchy sex comedy, The To Do List, is one of the best. A twist on the "dudes get laid" premise that ruled 1980s genre films, this one has Plaza as Brandy Klark, a high school overachiever who comes up with a list of all the risque sex acts she wants to engage in before hitting college. Put The To Do List on your calendar for July 26th.
A new poster has been released for the Sundance and SXSW indie hit, Short Term 12. Marking a breakout turn by Brie Larson, she plays a young woman helping troubled youths at a foster care facility, while dealing with her own difficult past and complications with her boyfriend, played by The Newsroom's John Gallagher Jr. Co-starring Rami Malek and Kaitlyn Dever, Short Term 12 opens on August 23rd.
So hey, we've already seen Selena Gomez in the racy Spring Breakers, so what's the difference if she's playing a car jackin' thug in the new film, Getaway? Oh, the difference is that Getaway looks cheap and atrocious and totally unlike anything we'd want to see her or Ethan Hawke in? The latest dull poster features the not-so dynamic duo in what promises to be just one of many car chases. In fact, the plot seems to have been designed solely for that reason. Hawke plays an ex-race car driver who must beat the clock and save his kidnapped wife. Getaway revs its engines on Labor Day.
