Warner Bros. Planning Big-Screen Scooby-Doo Animation

We all remember the live-action Scooby-Doo film starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze, Jr. and its sequel two years later. Both films were generally successful, the first making $275 million. But who would've thought that Warner Bros. would be intent on bringing Scooby-Doo back to the big screen? And this time, it won't be a live-action film, but they're going back to the basics.

Basics in this case meaning a Scooby-Doo animation. Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. is taking on the new project, with Matt Lieberman set to write the screenplay. There's no word yet on who will be doing the voice work for the beloved characters, but it'll be interesting to see how this will play out. An animated version could mean CGI animation or 2-D style, which was the way the original 1969 show was done.
