Lars von Trier has found absolutely no difficulty in marketing his 5-hour, 2-movie, graphic sexscapade Nymphomaniac. In fact, he seems to be delighting in the tease of it, provocatively revealing new clips right on time every month, and talking up the possibility of the hardcore version of the film arriving at Cannes. And now to show us just how weird and erotic things are actually going to get, 14 new character posters have been released featuring the entire cast...well, getting off.
Charlotte Gainsbourg plays the older version of Joe, with Stacy Martin as her younger self, and the story follows her various sexual exploits all the way up to the age of 50. She's apparently recounting her story to Stellan Skarsgard, who we see more of in his poster than any of us probably ever wanted. As shocking as these images will be for some, they also hint at the personalities of some of the characters. Shia LaBeouf coolly smokes a cigarette while Udo Keir (!!!) looks like he hasn't had sex in a decade, and Connie Nielsen looks like a total man-eater.
It's wild stuff, and makes me want to fly off to Denmark for the Christmas Day release. No word on a U.S. date just yet.
