'Sin City' Sequel Retitled 'Sin City: A Dame to Die For'?

After a frustrating eight year wait that saw Robert Rodriguez repeatedly tease a Sin City sequel, we were finally supposed to get it last month. But just as it was about to happen the film was pushed back into 2014, and apparently the weeks since the move have seen Dimension Films and Rodriguez reconsidering some things; like the title. Bloody Disgusting have been hanging out at the American Film Market where they happened to find this new poster which you'll note isn't titled Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Now she's apparently 'A Dame to Die For'.

What's the deal? It's anybody's guess, really, but perhaps the studio got a little antsy over a title that seems to endorse killing?  Or perhaps Rodriguez and screenwriter William Monahan have made enough changes to Frank Miller's original story that the title change seemed like a logical course of action?

Perhaps we'll learn the reasons behind it once Rodriguez starts making the press rounds next year. Starring Eva Green, Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Julia Garner, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson and more, Sin City: A Dame to DIE For opens August 22nd 2014.
