Guillermo Del Toro Says 'Justice League Dark' Must Fit WB's Movie & TV Plans

Pretty soon there will be nothing on TV but superheroes, just as the biggest cinematic blockbusters have sprung from the pages of Marvel and DC comics. It's been Marvel who have imposed their considerable might over all forms of media, recently inking a deal to bring four new series to Netflix. If you're Warner Bros. and you've got the most iconic comic book characters in the world at your disposal, doesn't it make sense to try and follow a similar path? According to Guillermo Del Toro that's exactly what they're doing.

Del Toro has long been associated with Justice League Dark aka Heaven Sent, a Justice League-style film that would unite the supernatural-themed heroes like John Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Deadman, and more.  While updates on it have been few of late, other than the director teasing the "perfect writer" he still refuses to name, but now he's saying the project is still very much on and must fit into the studio's plans for the big and small screen...

Del Toro: "We're still on (Justice League Dark), writing, and hopefully it will happen but there are no developments that are new. We're still at Warner Bros., they are making plans for the entire DC universe. All the superheroes, all the mythologies, and part of that is Justice League Dark. They're planning on TV, movies, and all the media, so we have to fit into that plan."

No real surprise there. Perhaps WB is figuring that the concept might be better suited to the small screen? This is the same studio that owns the CW Network where similar shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, and numerous others have been able to thrive. [Cinefilios]
