Interview: Gabe & Alan Polsky Talk 'The Motel Life'

First-time directors Gabe & Alan Polsky have been waiting a long time for their debut feature, The Motel Life, to hit theaters. The brothers and powerhouse producing duo (they produced Nic Cage's Bad Lieutenant remake) premiered the adaptation of Willy Vlauntin's acclaimed novel last year at the Rome Film Festival, where it won a handful of prestigious awards and put them on the map in a major way. Most notably they took home an award for Best Screenplay, chronicling the story of two down 'n out brothers (Stephen Dorff and Emile Hirsch) trying to scratch out a meager existence in Reno, NV.

Now that The Motel Life is in theaters and On Demand, I had a chance to talk with the Polskys about adapting such a prominent book, making the transition into directing, and working alongside Werner Herzog. Check out the interview below, and also find my review of The Motel Life here.
