New Poster and 3-Minute Trailer for 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug'

If there was a thought Warner Bros. would take their foot off the gas when it comes to marketing The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, those thoughts should now be put to rest. Earlier today saw the release of seven new character posters for the film, and now in the wake of today's live fan event, a new 3-minute trailer has been released along with an additional one-sheet.

The latest footage sells the epic scale of the film, while emphasizing there will be a lot more action than what we received before. In fact, there's so much going on this time with the emergence of the dragon Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) and the increased presence of the elves that it's hard to imagine Peter Jackson will have much left over for next year's 'There and Back Again'.

Starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Luke Evans, Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace, and Evangeline Lilly, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens December 13th.
