David O. Russell wants Jennifer Lawrence for Biopic on Miracle Mop Inventor

David O. Russell is no dummy. He knows a good thing when he sees it, and considering the success he's had with Jennifer Lawrence on Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, it's no wonder he wants to keep her close, even if his next project is about the origin of the Miracle Mop.

Russell is circling the director's chair for a biopic on Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop and Huggable Hangars who built her mega empire while working a number of jobs, earning her college degree, and raising three kids as a single mom. The script was written by Bridesmaids writer and co-star Annie Mumolo, and Russell would give it a rewrite if he comes aboard. And of course he wants Lawrence to play Mangano, who has become a fixture on Home Shopping Network.

Whether Lawrence is even available will prove to be the big question, as she has a couple of The Hunger Games sequels to go, not to mention her commitments to the X-men franchise. She's also attached to reteam with Gary Ross for East of Eden and Burial Rites, and was attached to work with Russell again on The Ends of the Earth. But if she can find the time you can bet this film is going to be looked at as a potential Oscar favorite.  [Deadline]
