Quentin Tarantino Shelves 'The Hateful Eight' After Script Leaks

After hinting at it some months ago, Quentin Tarantino confirmed recently that his next film would be The Hateful Eight, a western that was set to be different from his top-grossing Django Unchained. But in a story that could only come from Hollywood, Tarantino has shockingly decided to shelve the project after the script was leaked early.

In an interview conducted with Deadline, Tarantino revealed that the first draft had been given to a circle of six friends, only to have it leaked and agents start calling to get their actors roles in the film. So he's decided to simply shelve the project, with plans of publishing it as a novel....

Tarantino: "I’m very, very depressed. I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn’t mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it’s gotten out today.”

Tarantino will consider revisiting the film in about five years, but for now he's moving on to something else. Perhaps that will be the WWII flick Killer Crow that had been mentioned previously, or maybe he's got something cooking that nobody knows about. And considering how things turned out with The Hateful Eight, chances are Tarantino will be very selective about what he reveals in the future.
