Emma Watson Joins Ethan Hawke in 'Regression'; Julie Delpy Directs 'A Dazzling Display of Splendor'

There's been some movement on a couple of projects involving every art house fan's favorite lovers from the Before Sunrise flicks, but sadly nothing on a follow-up to Before Midnight. Oh well, let's soldier on....

Emma Watson is joining Ethan Hawke in Regression, the upcoming thriller from The Others director Alejandro AmenĂ¡barLittle is known about the plot or Watson's character, but Amenabar's script but earlier reports said it  “plays with our deepest primal fears to make us feel once again both profoundly human and extremely vulnerable.” Um, sure, whatever. Amenabar previously won the Best Foreign Language Academy Award for 2004's The Sea Inside, so there will be big expectations for Regression when it opens in 2015. Watson will be seen next in Darren Aronofsky's Noah. [TheWrap]

Julie Delpy has mostly stayed in Woody Allen territory with her most recent directorial efforts, comedies 2 Days in Paris and the sequel 2 Days in New York, but now she's moving in a totally different direction. She's set to write and direct A Dazzling Display of Splendor, a film she and Stephen Hammel cooked up that is set in the early days of silent movies and the auto industry. The story "follows a family of Vaudeville performers embarking on a cross-country road trip from New York to Los Angeles while making a motion picture." Right now it doesn't sound as if she'll take on an acting role, but with casting underway now that could change. [Variety]
