Javier Bardem Joins Sean Penn's 'The Last Face'

Revealed only a couple of days ago, details are starting to emerge about Sean Penn's next directorial effort, starting with a correction on the title. Originally reported as The Last Space, the film is actually called The Last Face, which makes a little more sense for the Africa-set drama. With Charlize Theron and Adele Exarchapoulos already on board, Penn has now added Javier Bardem to the cast.

Penned by Erin Dignam, the story follows an American relief worker (Theron) who meets and falls in love with a charismatic doctor (Bardem) against the backdrop of turmoil and political unrest in Africa. Exarchapoulous will play a journalist, with Penn co-starring in an unspecified role.
