Keanu Reeves Joins Eli Roth's 'Knock Knock'
Keanu Reeves' directorial debut, Man of Tai Chi fared pretty well critically, currently holding a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes and earning the respect of doubters like me. But otherwise it's been tough going, as his other martial arts flick 47 Ronin bombed spectacularly, and his long-developing sci-fi film Passengers can't seem to get going. So in the meantime it looks like Reeves will keep busy in the latest horror from Eli Roth.
Reeves has joined Knock Knock, instantly becoming the biggest name in the low-budget thriller featuring a cast of unknowns. Lorenza Izzo, Ana de Armas, Colleen Camp and Aaron Burns star in the film which has Reeves as "a happily married family man who’s left alone for the weekend. Two beautiful girls show up at his house, and turn his life upside down." It still sounds a lot like Funny Games, but with Roth at the helm it should be considerably more bloody.
An odd move for Reeves but as we've seen with Ethan Hawke, horrors are a pretty good way to jumpstart a career. Filming on Knock Knock begins later this month. [Deadline]
