Most will recognize Dan Fogler from the ping pong comedy, Balls of Fury, or as Topher Grace's unhinged pal in Take Me Home Tonight. He's also the voice of numerous animated characters in films like Kung Fu Panda and Free Birds, but what most don't know is that he's a Tony Award-winning actor with a range of talents. He gets to put many of those talents on display in the psychedelic stoner comedy, Don Peyote, which he co-wrote, co-directed, and takes the lead role in. He plays an unemployed graphic artist in the midst of a midlife crisis who goes down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories while trying to escape the pressure of an impending marriage.
I had a chance to talk with Fogler about the film, how much of himself is in the character, and his hopes of returning to the stage. Don Peyote is available now On Demand and opens in theaters tomorrow, May 16th. Check out my review here and the interview below.
