Alec Baldwin Eyes 'Mission: Impossible 5' and Will Smith's NFL Concussion Drama
Frequent bouts of foot-in-mouth disease aside, Alec Baldwin remains one of the most sought after actors for the big and small screen. He's currently got a role in Warren Beatty's untitled Howard Hughes project, and now he's being targeted for one of Hollywood's biggest franchises, another film led by one of its biggest stars, and possibly a new TV gig.
Deadline reports that Baldwin is in talks to join Mission: Impossible 5 as the head of CIA.Christopher McQuarrie is directing with Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner all confirmed to return. He's also entered negotiations to join Will Smith in Peter Landesman's untitled drama that will explore the impact of concussions on NFL football players. Ridley Scott is producing and the film is based on Jeanne Marie Laskas' GQ article, "Game Brain".
Baldwin is also looking to work with NBC again on a new TV series, following the success of 30 Rock and the pitiful failure of that terrible MSNBC talk show he had for a hot second. He's developing a sitcom in which he'd play the mayor of New York City who is described as similar to comically drug-addled Toronto mayor, Rob Ford.
