John Michael McDonagh wants Guy Pearce for 'War on Everyone'

Now's a pretty good time to be John Michael McDonagh. His directorial debut, the pitch black comedy The Guard, was the most successful Irish film of all-time and put him on the map alongside his brother, Martin (Seven Psychopaths, In Bruges). McDonagh hit Sundance a few months ago with his follow-up, Calvary, and personally I think it's even better. As that film is set to open in a few weeks, McDonagh has already begun gearing up for the next project, the long-developing War on Everyone, and the cast is starting to come together.

In an interview with The Playlist, McDonagh revealed he wants Guy Pearce for War on Everyone, which already has Michael Pena and Garrett Hedlund on board as two corrupt Alabama cops who go around ripping off criminals until they meet their match. Sound a little like a comedic Training Day? McDonagh thinks it more closely resembles "'The French Connection' but with more jokes".  It sounds like Pearce would be playing the villain if he agrees, although in a McDonagh film everybody is pretty bad.

The plan is to shoot War on Everyone in Texas or New Mexico.
