Trailer for Alexandre Aja-Produced Horror 'The Pyramid'
When one thinks of ancient Egypt and horror movies, the first thing that comes to mind are mummies. But there are all sorts of powerful curses, traps, and terrible things going on in the desert tombs beneath the Necropolis, and Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes) will bring the terrors to light in The Pyramid.
Produced by Aja and directed by his his frequent collaborator Gregory Levasseur, The Pyramid follows a group of archaeologists who uncover something terrible while exploring a new pyramid found in the Egyptian desert. The new trailer is actually pretty impressive, beginning with a running montage of past discoveries that turned out awful for everyone involved, then jumping to the present where a new team (led by About Cherry's Ashley Hinshaw) ventures into the unknown depths. This is after the pyramid released a cloud of toxic gas, by the way, suggesting these may not be the brightest bulbs on the payroll. Between this and As Above, So Below this is a bad time for cave-dwelling geeks in horror flicks. Actually, it's always a bad time for those folks.
The Pyramid opens on December 5th and co-stars James Buckley, Denis O'Hare, Christa-Marie Nicola and Amir K.
