Channing Tatum may be 'Struck by Genius' for Sony

Give Channing Tatum credit for doing more than what people expect from him. While he's proven to be great in comedies like 22 Jump Street and action movies like Haywire, he hasn't shied away from dramatic material. He'll be seen in this season's Oscar hopeful, Foxcatcher, and now Sony has picked up the rights to Jason Padgett's memoir, Struck by Genius, for Ttaum to possibly star in.

Tatum will also produce the film which tells Padgett's story of how he went from a hard-partying college dropout to a mathematics wiz after a violent mugging leaves him with a traumatic brain injury. Padgett became the first documented case of acquired savant syndrome, giving him the ability to understand match and physics in a way few can.

There doesn't appear to be a writer or director attached yet so this one is still in the developing stages. Tatum will be heard next in the animated musical-comedy, The Book of Life. [THR]
