Tom Hardy Could be En Sabah Nur in 'X-men: Apocalypse'
With his physical and commanding screen presence, it's no wonder Tom Hardy has been a frequent target for superhero films, usually on the side of the guys causing all the trouble. He's already broken Batman's back as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, and Warner Bros. is seeking to bring him back for Suicide Squad. But now 20th Century Fox has entered the picture and wants Hardy to play the big, bad, and blue En Sabah Nur in 2016's X-men: Apocalypse.
The Wrap reports Hardy is in contention for the title role in X-men: Apocalypse, playing the bad guy glimpsed at the tail end of X-men: Days of Future Past. Apocalypse, aka En Sabah Nur, was born in Egypt some 3,000 years ago and is considered the very first mutant. He lives by the credo of "survival of the fittest", and is a conqueror gifted with incredible powers, advanced technology, and followers who worship him like a god. It's doubtful Hardy could take on the role and do something like Suicide Squad or Marvel's Doctor Strange, another comic book film he's up for. So he's going to have to choose, and personally I'd like to see what he could do battling Charles Xavier's band of merry mutants.
X-men: Apocalypse opens May 27th 2016 directed by Bryan Singer.
