Jake Gyllenhaal is 'The Man Who Made It Snow' for Director Antoine Fuqua
Currently earning the best reviews of his career for Nightcrawler, Jake Gyllenhaal has his sights set on another project, and this one will see him reunited with Southpaw director Antoine Fuqua.THR reports that Gyllenhaal will star in The Man Who Made It Snow, a crime drama based on the true story of Medellin drug smuggler Max Mermelstein.
Based on Mermelstein's autobiography and adapted by Brett Tabor, the story follows "the only American who was in the inner circle of the Colombian cartels in the go-go 1980s." Mermelstein smuggled billions of dollars worth of cocaine in the United States but ultimately became a key informant against the crime organization. It's an interesting role for Gyllenhaal but Fuqua isn't the most inspiring of directors, so this one could go either way. The two recently wrapped on the long-developing boxing drama, Southpaw.
