Given the world we live in now, one of constant government surveillance and comical levels of political double-speak, George Orwell's classic 1984 seems to have already come to pass. So it's perhaps the best possible time to take another look at the authoritarian world he created, and the guy to do it will be Paul Greengrass.
According to Deadline, Greengrass will direct a new take on 1984, penned by James Graham. If you've ever heard of "Big Brother" (not the TV show) who is constantly watching over your every move, the concept comes from Orwell's story which is set in a future of endless propaganda, surveillance, and corruption. The central character is Winston Smith, who rebels against the bureaucratic power of Airstrip One, formerly the United Kingdom.
So when exactly would Greengrass get moving on this? That's unclear, especially given the plate full of projects he has to consider. Best guess is that he'll take this on after wrapping up his 'Bourne' reunion with Matt Damon.
