David Oyelowo may Join Lupita Nyong'o in 'Americanah'

The time is right now for David Oyelowo. Remember how we said that about Chiwetel Ejiofor last year for 12 Years a Slave? Well it's happening now for Oyelowo who is receiving not only praise but plenty of awards nominations for his performance in Selma as Martin Luther King, Jr. And with that kind of praise comes the ability to pick your next projects, and Oyelowo may be joining Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o in Americanah.

Announced earlier this year as a project shepherded by Nyong'o, the adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's romance novel tells the "epic love story of young Nigerians, Ifemelu and Obinze; a romance that spans continents, visas, phone cards, and breakups, while exploring the cruelties and the humor of both the modern immigrant experience and the difficulty of finding your way home."

This one's a way off as there is still no writer or director attached, and that search could get a lot easier if Oyelowo wins some gold. [Variety]
