Sure Shots: The Wolfman; Looper; The Fighter 2

* The Wolfman turned into one hairy disaster for poor, beleaguered Universal last year. Even with a great cast of Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt, and Anthony Hopkins, the film was doomed from the start. Budget concerns forced Mark Romanek(Never Let Me Go) take split, forcing Joe Johnston to pick up the pieces. It didn't go well at all and the classic movie monster's flick was a crashing bore. But Universal doesn't appear to be done with him just yet, as Moviehole says the studio is already planning a relaunch more closely associated with 1941's The Wolf Man. A script has already been prepped by Michael Tabb, and a meeting with potential directors is on the horizon. Shooting could begin as soon as this fall! If Universal's plan is to cash in on the popularity of werewolves thanks to Twilight, then they're making a silly error. It's Taylor Lautner who is popular. I don't see this panning out at all.

* Remember that glorious day back in 2008 when Rian Johnson(Brick) came to our site and consoled me in my grief after The Brothers Bloom's release date was shoved back like five months? One of, if not the, happiest moment of my time on this site. Well I got over it, and I ended up seeing the film like five times in theaters. Well Johnson's third film, Looper, is going to be coming out later than I'd hoped too. Set your calendars for September 28th 2012 for the highly anticipated time travel actioner, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Piper Perabo, Paul Dano, and Emily Blunt. Any chance I can travel forward in time and catch this early? I'll come back, and I promise not to spoil anything!

* Dude, I get it. Mark Wahlberg REALLY wants to do The Fighter 2. Homie can't stop talkin' about it. I don't blame him. Wahlberg was like the only person in the cast not to get a single acting nomination out of it, so he wants to take another swing. Ok so it's probably about more than that. The chance to tell the story of Micky Ward's classic trilogy of wars against Arturo Gatti. And of course working with his kindred spirit, David O. Russell. Russell has said he'd be into writing the script, so the chances of it happening are pretty good. Still, Wahlberg's going to keep going public with his desire, just as he did during the Spike TV Guys' Choice Awards...

Wahlberg: "We left out the Arturo Gatti fights for a reason, cause that’s for Fighter 2. We’re not gonna do Fighter 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, but we’re gonna do 2. We’re gonna do the Ward/Gatti trilogy."

Dude seems pretty serious, and if you check out the below video you'll note that O. Russell is right there behind him. Think he'd have said it without his say so?
