Tops at the Box Office: First Class passes, fails to X-cel

1. X-men: First Class- $56M
Uh oh. Fox can't be happy about this. Even though $56M is a respectable number, it's less impressive when you compare it to the first X-men film which opened at $54M at vastly lower ticket rates. What's probably most disturbing is how much worse it did than X-men Origins: Wolverine, which opened at $85M just two years ago. What could the cause be? Is the X-men franchise dead thanks to two subpar movies in a row? By virtually all accounts, X-men: First Class is a top notch film, so maybe word of mouth will bring lure in more than just the fanboys.
2. The Hangover Part II- $32.4M/$187M
A 62% drop from last week is no joke, and much higher than The Hangover's second week slip. But the reason for that is the insane 5 day total the film had thanks to the holiday weekend.

3. Kung Fu Panda 2- $24.3M/$100M
The 2nd week tumble for the further adventures of Po and the Furious Five wasn't that much different than the first Kung Fu Panda flick, but with a smaller debut Dreamworks can't be happy.
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides- $18M/$190M
5. Bridesmaids- $12.1M/$107M
Continues to have the smallest drop every week, only slipping 27%.
6. Thor- $4.2M/$169M
7. Fast Five- $3.24M/$202M
8. Midnight in Paris- $2.92M/$6.94M
Woody Allen's latest continues to have the highest per site average in the top 10, and already has surpassed the totals of Whatever Works and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger
9. Jumping the Broom- $865K/$35.9M
10. Something Borrowed- $835K/$36.7M
