Writer of Fringe to pen Daredevil relaunch based on Frank Miller's 'Born Again' storyline

If there's a The Empire Strikes Back to the story of Daredevil, then Born Again is it. The classic Frank Miller/David Mazzucchelli story sees the blind superhero's civilian identity as Matt Murdock revealed to his arch enemy, The Kingpin. The villain proceeds to make his life a living Hell.  I've always wanted to see it portrayed on screen, and now it looks like I'll finally get my wish.

THR reports that David Slade's planned relaunch of the Daredevil franchise will draw largely from the Born Again story, which debuted in 1987 and collected in issues #227-233. Brad Michael Kane, a writer on the hit series Fringe, has been brought on to pen the script. Kane's enthusiasm is said to have been key to his hiring, but the fact that he only has one feature credit to his name, Brooklyn's Finest, is a reason for caution.

Few people will admit to liking the 2003 Daredevil film, but I think it's better than a lot of superhero movies out there. Check out the director's cut Blu-Ray and tell me it stinks. The big question now is who will don the costume of the Man Without Fear? Obviously Affleck won't be back, but would Michael Clarke Duncan come back to play the Kingpin? Using the Born Again story is strong step in the right direction.
