Trailer Time: Rock of Ages, starring Tom Cruise and Julianne Hough

Here's all you really need to know about Adam Shankman's jukebox musical, Rock of Ages...

"Featuring the music of Def Leppard, Foreigner, Journey, Poison, Twisted Sister"

Really, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Big hair and dreams of rock music superstardom permeate Shankman's film, for which the first trailer has finally been released. Based on the hit Broadway musical, the film is ostensibly about Drew(Diego Boneta) and Sherri(Julianne Hough), who find eachother and fall in love during the rock music heyday of the 1980s. But it's really just a chance to see celebrities like Malin Akerman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti(!?!), Alec Baldwin, and Russell Brand wear insane wigs and cut loose into obnoxious song. Rock music isn't really my thing, but Shankman has surprised me before with his version of Hairspray. And to be honest it was really cool the way the trailer builds up to the grand appearance of Tom Cruise as rock music god, Stacee Jaxx. He hasn't played a character this assuredly cool and cocky since Magnolia.

Rock of Ages will open on June 1st. Check out the trailer below....
