Disney has a lot riding on the success of John Carter, and they're throwing everything they've got to make sure it sticks in your mind. Today the studio has released the first official clip from the Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptation, starring Taylor Kitsch as the war weary soldier mysteriously transported to Mars where he becomes a warrior in a planetary civil war. The clip shows Carter on the run with the beautiful Princess Dejah Thoris(Lynn Collins) with Tars Tarkan(Mark Strong) leading the pissed off aliens hunting them down. The promo gives an added glimpse at the world John Carter finds himself trapped in, which I have to admit is looking more impressive by the day.
Whether John Carter turns out to be a very expensive disaster is going to depend a lot on it's opening March 9th weekend, where it'll have virtually no high profile competition. That changes on March 16th with the arrival of Jonah Hill's 21 Jump Street remake and Will Ferrell's Spanish language comedy, Case De Mi Padre....
